ICT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Madison Group Limited operates through two insurance subsidiaries in life and general businesses and an Investment management subsidiary, all based at the Group Headquarters in Upper Hill, Madison House, Nairobi.
ICT Systems Administrator
Reporting to the ICT Manager, the Information Security Officer must be a self-driven person who will be responsible for evaluating, implementing and supporting the High end and Mid- Range IT Infrastructure in line with the Group’s Vision and provisioning of Highly Available Server infrastructure for the Critical systems.
Duties and responsibilities
- Planning and Designing of the Private Cloud Infrastructure, Servers, Storage, Linux/Unix, Windows, Microsoft Office 365, Email Security Gateway, Virtualization (VMware and Oracle KVM) and Datacentre requirements as per the business plan and technology.
- Ensuring that servers and Data Centres are properly monitored and administered.
- Installation/configuration of Private Cloud Infrastructure, Servers, Storage, Linux/Unix, Windows, Microsoft Office 365 Monitoring and Capacity Planning as per the IT policies/ Standards and providing guidance to the users on its features and usage in order to ensure its proper use and improvement in performance.
- Systems Support / Patch Management: Support, Maintenance. Patching and Administration of servers (both physical and virtual), including hardware, OS (Windows), SAN Storage and Linux and Windows products.
- Active Directory and Group Policy Management: Maintain Active Directory such as creating accounts, troubleshooting authentication, configuring domain controllers, managing DNS and DHCP, and implementing group policies.
- Project Management. Manage projects related to the Private Cloud Infrastructure, Servers, Storage, Linux/Unix, Windows, Backup and Monitoring
- Desktop Support by serving as an escalation point for the service desk team and backup for activities including direct end-user support.
- Business Continuity through Disaster readiness is maintained as agreed and ensures regular DR exercises are done as per the ICT Policy

Requisite Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in a busy IT environment with a hands-on role in implementing and supporting SAN and NAS Storage; Proxy Server; Email Security Gateway; SharePoint; Teams for Business; Virtualization.
- Demonstrable track record in managing Linux platforms, Windows Enterprise servers and UNIX systems, HP Server Platforms (rack mount and blades), PowerShell scripting, Centralized desktop management, Office 365 (Exchange Online, One Drive for Business, SharePoint Online), Active Directory Services.
- Experience in management of third party infrastructure providers.
- Possess a working knowledge of database management.
- Good understanding of the BFSI Industry (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) and how Information Technology contributes to the success of financial institutions.
- A high level of oral and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with users, managers, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Highly analytical in problem solving with the ability to apply original and innovative thinking.
- Sound knowledge of Information technology and related supporting architectures.
